In recent years, it has been fashionable to rewrite economics in light of one of the philosophical frameworks of modern science. The application of a philosophy of science framework to economics, despite considerable intellectual effort, has not yet resulted in a "major conceptual or historiographical breakthrough." At the same time, the "crisis" in economics appears to have deepened, if one can measure its depth by the rise in methodology-focused literature and by the diverse range of economists engaged. In this vein, the matter is to decipher the genesis of the philosophical thoughts in economics as a solid scientific framework to explain properly the behavior of individuals to achieve their ends.
