Genetics forms the cornerstone of modern biology, offering essential insights into the molecular mechanisms that govern biological diversity and cellular regulation. A strong foundation in genetics enables biologists to understand the causes of hereditary disorders, study organismal adaptation, and improve agricultural productivity.
This course provides second-year biological science students with an integrated overview of fundamental genetic principles, combining theoretical concepts with practical experience. Topics include Mendelian inheritance, molecular genetics—covering DNA replication, transcription, translation, and mutation—and the wide-ranging applications of genetics in medicine, biotechnology, research, and agriculture.
